KUALA LUMPUR, July 8 (Bernama) -- The corruption case involving a former political secretary to a minister in the Prime Minister's Department, Tan Sri Nor Mohamed Yakcop, is still being investigated by the authorities, the Dewan Rakyat was told Thursday.
A deputy minister in the Prime Minister's Department, Datuk Liew Vui Keong said follow-up action would only be taken after the investigation had been completed and that there were concrete evidence found against Hasbie Satar.
"The case is still under investigation, so I can't say much on the case," he said when winding up the debate on the Lower Courts (Amendment) Bill 2010 at the Dewan Rakyat sitting.
On Wednesday, Wee Choo Keong (Ind-Wangsa Maju) when debating the Bill sought clarification on the status of the probe on the corruption case involving Hasbie.
Wee had asked why Hasbie had yet to be prosecuted in court and whether the case had been closed.
Hasbie was detained on Feb 12 but was released by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) six days later on a RM50,000 bail.
According to media reports earlier, MACC officers from Putrajaya had raided an apartment in Teluk Air Tawar, Butterworth, Penang and found cash in denominations of RM5, RM10, RM50 and RM100 totalling about RM2 million.
The House will sit again on Monday. -- BERNAMA
