How "Civil Society" is infiltrated to overthrow Governments

Coups

The CIA and the Agency for International Development (AID) would have key roles in this program as well as a new organisation christened in 1983 — the National Endowment for Democracy (NED).

Actually, the new program was not really new. Since its founding in 1947, the CIA had been deeply involved in secretly funding and manipulating foreign non-governmental voluntary organisations.

These vast operations circled the globe and targeted political parties, trade unions and business associations, youth and student organisations, women's groups, civic organisations, religious communities, professional, intellectual and cultural societies, and the public information media. The network functioned at local, national, regional and global levels.

Over the years, the CIA exerted phenomenal influence behind the scenes in country after country, using these powerful elements of civil society to penetrate, divide, weaken and destroy organisations on the left, and indeed to impose regime change by toppling governments.

Such was the case, among many others, in Guyana, where in 1964, culminating 10 years of efforts, the Cheddi Jagan government was overthrown through strikes, terrorism, violence and arson perpetrated by CIA agents in the trade unions.

About the same time, while I was a CIA agent assigned to Ecuador, our agents in civil society, through mass demonstrations and civil unrest, provoked two military coups in three years against elected, civilian governments.

Anyone who has watched the opposition to President Hugo Chavez's government in Venezuela develop can be certain that the CIA, AID and the NED are coordinating the destabilisation and were behind the failed coup in April 2002 as well as the failed ”civic strike” of last December-January.

The Cuban American National Foundation was, predictably, one of the first beneficiaries of NED funding. From 1983 to 1988, CANF received US$390,000 for anti-Castro activities. -

News you won't find on CNN

The chilling confessions of former agents just further strengthens my conviction that action must be taken against such blatant direct foreign interference in our territory.

The Malaysian Government MUST take all precautionary and preventive steps to ensure the safety and sovereignty of our nation.

This is not about the political survival or demise of any political party or politicians.

This is a question of whether we are prepared to hand over our rights as Malaysians to a foreign master.

This is about our sovereignty and the future of our beloved Malaysia.

Able minded Malaysian could try to understand the essence of real-life Western 'democracy' in John Perkins' Confessions of an Economic Hitman.

"Their tools included fraudulent financial reports, rigged elections, payoffs, extortion, sex, and murder. They play a game as old as empire, but one that has taken on new and terrifying dimensions during this time of globalization." - John Perkins

Confessions of and Economic Hitman is one of the few books I have managed to read cover to cover and I should read it again to refresh my memory.

One of my favourite books. It explains a lot why Indonesia is in such a sorry state, and how easily the same fate could have befallen us.

Thanks for reminding bro, the Economic Hitman is a good read but my worry is how many Malaysians actually read and take the trouble to understand what is happening around us?

Anon,

"Thanks for reminding bro, the Economic Hitman is a good read but my worry is how many Malaysians actually read and take the trouble to understand what is happening around us?"

Not many, I believe, since many probably get their news from CNN or BBC via Astro.

Also, some may even want a hitman to hit Malaysia.

When I first heard about the book some years back, I tried to buy it from Amazon.com but was informed that payment could not be accepted from Malaysia, the book could not be sold to Malaysia or something like that, can't quite recall.

In the end I bought it from Borders in Singapore, though I later learned it was also available in Borders here.

Another interesting observation is that these so-called "alternative" media rarely if ever highlight the plight of the Palestinians, the Afghans, Iraqis, Pakistanis, etc being invaded, bombed, killed by drones, etc.

Instead, most of their readers' comments delight in it, as if the victims are "not human" in their mind.

These "alternative" media are the first to loudly condemn the government of Malaysia when FRU attack protestors but were curiously silent when the police in New York attacked and arrested hundreds of Occupy Wall Street protestors.

They screamed when Anwar Ibrahim was hit in the face by a tear gas canister but said nothing when former marine Scott Olsen was hit in the head by a tear gas canister and nearly died.

I too believe that the Bersih protestors should have been allowed to march and assemble peacefully and condemn the force used against them but at the same time condemn the U.S. police for attacking the Occupy protestors but these "alternative" media don't.

My only conclusion is that they are biased and practice doubls standards and don't want to offend the hand which feeds them.

Or, since they tout the US as a "paragon of virtue" when it comes to human rights, they don't want to admit that the US is just as brutal, if not worse.

Many years back, Malaysiakini condemned the US war on Iraq but at the same time allowed a Malaysian columnist, who styled himself as a Neo-Conservative to spout his views supporting the war in the name of "democracy" on its website, in the name of allowing "free speech."

These "human rights" and "pro-democracy" NGOs and these "alternative" media may seem attarctive at first but over time, one begins to see their true colours.

I don't even know the way I ended up here, however I believed this put up used to be good. I do not recognize who you might be however certainly you are going to a well-known blogger for those who are not already. Cheers!

We really do not need 'infiltrations' to overthrow our government.

We have UMNO/BN who is doing a good job for us, to throw them out.
