Unite, Speak UP and use the NEW MEDIA!

The silent majority of Malaysians who cherish the nation’s peace and stability should no longer remain silent.

The silent majority, who overwhelmingly outnumber those who take to the streets to tarnish the country’s image, must stand up and be counted.

It’s time for the silent majority of Malaysians, particularly the younger generation who support the Government’s initiatives towards a better Malaysia to rise and air their views.

Speak UP, use the NEW MEDIA! - those were basically Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak’s message to Malaysians who oppose the small group of Opposition-backed street demonstrators who marred the streets of Kuala Lumpur on Saturday.

Speaking after addressing about 6,000 Umno and NGO representatives at PWTC earlier today, Najib sent a clear signal that the ruling government would no longer remain silent to the antics of trouble-makers in the country.

Earlier in his speech Najib said the only way to defeat the trouble makers and their politics of hatred, deceit and lies was through unity.

The Malays must unite with all the other races in our country who also reject such dirty politics and teach these trouble-makers a lesson.

(Najib also had the 6,000-odd audience in stitches when he touched on the Antics of Anwar Ibrahim, a drama that has spanned over the reins of four Prime Minister)

That guy is the trouble maker, Najib said without even mentioning Anwar’s name. When that person was ‘inside’ this country was trouble free.

p/s Don’t let Anwar Ibrahim and his goons get away with lies like this BIG one below.

Malaysiakini Drops the Magical Number – 50,000
In Malaysiakini, Kuek Ser Kuang Keng wrote this:
Bersih 2.0 has hailed its rally as a victory for the movement and the people of Malaysia, claiming that up to 50,000 people had participated, supporting its cause for clean and fair elections.
The two relevant points: (a) Bersih is a success – why would Ambiga say otherwise? and, (b) turnout was 50,000.
The first is a matter of opinion, so Kuek Ser could get away with writing and attributing anything. But the second, 50,000? That is a matter of objective fact. So why should the reporter and his ‘independent’ newspaper take Bersih’s word for it? And where did they get that number? Did Kuek Ser verify? Does he know how to count? Did he count? How?

Both of you are wrong. The actual figure is uncountable because:

1. A lot were still caught up in traffic jams in bus, cars, motobikes, lrts since the night before. Easily 50,000.

2. A lot got intimidated because they think there will be violence with UMNO Youth, Perkasa and Persatuan Silat all calling for violence against protestors. Easily 500,000.

3. A lot were unsure whether to travel from outstation to KL because until the last day, still not sure whether will proceed or call off. Nak jimat perbelanjaan. Easily 200,000.

4. A lot of government servants and GLCs workers and students were warned not to participate or lose their scholarships or jobs or get kick out. Easily another 200,000.

5. A lot memang lazy and prefer supporting thru Internet. Easily another few millions.

6. A lot don't have the luxury of not working cos they need the money to survive daily and tak ada sponsorship. Another few millions.

So, how many already? I am just counting those who are interested to join Bersih but cannot due to so many reasons.

I have not included Fence sitters or the silent majority who are just watching and listening to all the propaganda and cannot make out yet what is truth and what is false, who to believe or what to believe.

Anon 3.06, stop making excuses.

There should be at least 100,000 people as Mat Sabu promised.
50,000 is only 50%. Therefore it failed.
About the unaccountable figures, these are your imaginary friends that you wish you have.
Just like you, they didn't have the brains to plan ahead, the balls to sweat it out and the motivation to be there.

KUALA LUMPUR: The street demonstrations planned for July 9 are actually hatched by people who cannot wait to be in power and not because elections in the country are not clean, said Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak.
“If we could manipulate elections, all the states would be ruled by the Barisan Nasional (BN). We are not people who manipulate elections.
“We do not want to be in power without the support of the people. That is Barisan Nasional,” he said when opening the People’s Progressive Party’s 58th general assembly here today.
“We choose to be in power only if the people are with us, but do not do something that can cause chaos in the country just because you want political power,” he said, adding if the people concerned were truly brave, they should contest in elections rather than resort to illegal street demonstrations which were of no benefit to the country.
“If the country descends into chaos, it is they who will be held responsible. We want to look after the people’s welfare, not the interests of power-hungry people,” he said to thunderous applause from the gathered delegates.

KUALA LUMPUR, July 9 (Bernama) -- While several PAS and Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) leaders were arrested in connection with the illegal street demonstrations in the city today, Opposition leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim did not appear to be doing his fair share for their cause.

The organiser of the illegal street demonstrations Datuk S Ambiga, who was also arrested while trying to march from KL Sentral to their targeted venue (the Merdeka Stadium), appears to have been used by the political parties that supported the illegal rallies.

Almost all of PAS' key leaders, right from its president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang, deputy president Mohamad Sabu and two vice-presidents Datuk Mahfuz Omar and Salahuddin Ayub, were also arrested for participating in the illegal street demonstrations.

Anwar was reported to have suffered a fall while trying to join the others and admitted to the Pantai Hospital here. His daughter later told reporters that doctors had given him a clean bill of health.

However, Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Ismail Omar denied allegations that Anwar was injured.

Senator Mohd Ezam Mohd Noor, a former ally of Anwar, alleged that it was an "old script" by Anwar to divert attention from the sodomy case he was facing and to gain sympathy.

"His black eye, back pain, alleged arsenic poisoning, all these were to gain sympathy and turn the people against the Barisan Nasional government," said the former PKR Youth leader.

I agree with you on one thing, that is the silent majority will play a pivotal role in the coming GE but disagree with you and Najib about where the silent majority is leaning.

Let me tell you why I disagree with your views on where the silent majority leans.

Malaysians from all walk of life have been bombarded with unprecendeted amount of information from basically two divergent views, that is pro and anti Bersih. From the electronic superhighway to the corner coffee/marmak shops, everyone is talking about bersih/kotor, depending on which divide you are on.

I am one of the thousands that caught the bug and have been sharing my views and listening to others about Bersih for the past 2 weeks. The last was this evening where a group of my collegues and students were talking about the aftermath and what will happen to the spirit of the Bersih movement. Up until now, every single person I talk to have supported Bersih, They feel strongly that it's time to make reforms to ensure our electoral process to minimize the potential of abuse and manipulation of the system. They all, I repeat all, agree that pre-election procedures and processess need reforms to minimize unfair practices. As long as the system is perceived to be fair, they will accept and support the best person/candidate who win.

And the number is at least 100 + people I spoke to about Bersih the last two weeks.
