The Sarawak United Peoples' Party, or SUPP (Chinese砂拉越人民联合党MalayParti Rakyat Bersatu SarawakIban: Gerempong Sa'ati Ra'ayat Sarawak) is a political party in Malaysia. The party is one of the constituent members of the ruling Barisan Nasional. It was established in 1959 mainly by leftists and working class Chinese, many of whom were members of the underground communist movement in Sarawak. - WIKIPEDIA

I interviewed Bong Kee Chok in Kuching many years ago for a short feature. He was then a loyal member of SUPP. The party had even nominated him for a state award which was cancelled at the eleventh hour. Guess Bong Kee Chok is still a member of Barisan Nasional via SUPP.

This reference to SUPP is not in any way meant to insult or ridicule the party and or its members but is merely a lesson to those who think politics is cast in stone. It is also for those who forget easily.

There is also ample proof that we, as a nation, have managed to tame communism.

I believe chauvinism too could be managed, but not treason.

Absolutely powerful Umno-Pas talks

An Umno – Pas unity talk could dominate national political debate soon. All arrows are pointing towards embattled Pas President Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang and his Umno counterpart Datuk Seri Najib Razak. Something seems to be brewing.

The recent passing of Tuan Guru Datuk Nik Abdul Aziz is widely speculated to have expedited ongoing talks between leaders from both sides. It’s unclear how this marriage of convenience is being proposed.

A bigger mess looms in Barisan Nasional for none of the other component members seems to be in the know of this latest ‘unity’ stunt. Pakatan Rakyat on the other hand have no choice but to admit the leftovers who are against any such cooperation with Umno or BN.

Pakatan Rakyat’s internal spat has worsened since the infamous Kajang Move and the subsequent Selangor Mentri Besar saga. With Anwar Ibrahim lurking in Sungai Buloh and an Azmin-Wan Azizah power struggle looming in the horizon, PKR could better concentrate on their survival. Pas leaving the Pakatan pact would no longer raise too many eyebrows. DAP has been standing on its own.

In Umno the president is so strong that we may not see even a single Umno branch or division, let alone state, leadership standing up to voice the views of the grassroots. It’s a one-way street.

Whether we like it or not, Najib is one of the strongest president Umno has had in terms of total subservience of the Umno leadership structure. It would not be far fetched to say that Najib’s position as Umno president is unassailable.

The deputy president and three vice-presidents appear ‘not ready’ for greater responsibility, or at least that is how they have been portrayed either intentionally or otherwise.

With absolute power Najib and by extension those close to him are allowed to do whatever they want. A unity talk without prior consultation or deliberations within BN could be the least of Najib’s worries at this moment. In fact such a merger with Pas could be used to help boost Najib’s waning popularity, atlas among the divided Malays.

Unity is good but trust is paramount. Would an open pact between Umno and Pas lead towards betterment of the community and society at large or would it wedge a greater divide between the races?

What could be the reaction of the dozen other members of BN who represent almost all the other races and ethnic groups in the country? Najib may not care because even his position as the BN chairman appears unassailable. (Najib is even personally micro-managing the power struggle in MIC at the moment)

Hypothetically could a Umno-Pas pact, if it materialises, not trigger similar political pacts between MCA, Gerakan, DAP, SUPP, UPP, SAPP and other Chinese dominated political parties? Who would call whom a traitor then?

It's a precarious situation. If not handled carefully, a move in the wrong direction could possibility mark the beginning of BN's end.

With absolute power, political expediency could override norms and convention. Whether such an expediency is sustainable is another matter altogether.

Mystery and mysterious wheelings and dealings have become daily diet in our political scene nowadays. Let’s just wait till the clouds clear. A new political equation could very well be in the making.

p/s Don't worry. Whatever happens, Najib Razak will remain as Umno president, BN chairman and Prime Minister as nobody has been allowed to appear good enough to replace him at the moment. Thats the picture.

Time to review ESSCOM

Insanity

The Eastern Sabah Security Command (ESSCOM) is once again under the spotlight for the wrong reasons. Slightly over a year since the Prime Minister announced its formation and barely a week before the first anniversary of the appointment of its top office bearers, ESSCOM is under fire.

ESSCOM is under fire for its perceived ineffectiveness in ensuring the safety and security of Sabah, particularly the east coast of Sabah.

Is ESSCOM, with almost an exact DNA of the Rajang Area Security Command (Rascom) which was formed more than 40 years ago in 1972,  really ineffective?

Is it truly toothless or are we witnessing the failure of those entrusted to make ESSCOM work for the people of Sabah?

This issue was even discussed in Parliament following an Emergency Motion tabled by an Opposition MP from Sabah. While the tabling of the motion is commendable, the Opposition and some Government MPs were obviously more interested in cheap politics rather than wanting a solution.

Calling for the disbandment of ESSCOM is plain stupid. What do you do after ESSCOM is disbanded? Create a new security set up and spend more money?

Linking the kidnapping to RCI on Illegal Immigrants/fake ICs is nothing but cheaper than cheap politics to stir resentment against the ruling coalition. Suggesting the shutting down of resorts on islands of the east coast of Sabah is not smart either.

The emergency motion in Parliament just flowed down into the drain because only a few was interested in finding a solution. A big majority of the MPs were merely pointing fingers.

This latest brouhaha following the kidnapping of two persons from a resort 5 minutes off the coast of Semporna, almost exactly on ESSCOM's first anniversary is indeed a blessing in disguise.

The Government, PM Najib Razak and Sabah Chief Minister Musa Aman to be specific, must grab this opportunity to initiate a comprehensive review of ESSCOM to enhance its effectiveness.

It would be dumb to say ESSCOM has been useless for the last one year but it would be equally naive to think that all is perfect in the set up and/or the way it is being run.

If we want to have better results and prevent further kidnapping and organized criminal activities on the east coast and Sabah in general, we must initiate change.

An all encompassing review would most certainly tell you what and who to change. For a start, the Government may want to consider someone with the relevant experience to head ESSCOM. This complete review of ESSCOM must also include a review on all the main agencies and their role in the last year.

Non cooperative servants of the government must be shipped out.

This is an opportunity for the Government to enhance the role of ESSCOM and deliver on the promise to make Sabah a safer place for all.

We should not be doing it solely for the tourist dollar. Be sincere and do it because we want our people to be safe in their own country.

Insanity, as quoted above, is if we close our eyes and ears and continue to do the same things over and over again while expecting better results.

Please act now before people lose trust... completely.

Perak PKR state assemblyman QUITS? - UPDATED

It has been brought to my attention that the 'resignation letter' purportedly sent by YB Kesavan is fake. Kesavan has denied sending the letter.

I hope YB Kesavan will step forward to explain this 'fake' letter soon. We want to know if:

1. The letter is indeed fake; or

2. Is it a genuine letter with Kesavan's original signature but was 'leaked' to the State Assembly Speaker by persons known to the YB?

Please clarify YB!

Earlier posting:
Hutan Melintang state assemblyman YB Kesavan has QUIT  (w.e.f 2nd Feb 2014) from PKR. His notification was received by the Perak state Speaker's Office earlier today.

YB Kesavan's letter says it very clearly…"Hilang kepercayaan dan tidak berpuashati terhadap kepimpinan parti terse but'. (he has denied it now)

I was told that a few more Pakatan Rakyat Members of Parliament and State Assemblyman are expected to follow suit and become independent elected representatives following PKR's dirty politics in Kajang.

Well, guess its normal for those who have some form of self respect to walk away when you (the party and leadership) don't walk the talk.

Let's watch this dimension of Rafizi's 'Kajang Move' very closely.

Eloquent silence?

Ex-Kita state chief lodges report against Gobind

'LEGAL NOTICE TO RoS': Failure to back up claim unbecoming of an MP, says Zamil

SUNGAI PETANI: FORMER Kedah Parti Kesejahteraan Insan Tanah Air (Kita) chairman Zamil Ibrahim yesterday lodged a   report against DAP national legal bureau chairman Gobind Singh Deo over the legal notice to the Registrar of Societies (RoS) issue.
Zamil urged the authorities to investigate Gobind's claim that the latter had submitted a legal notice to RoS last month.
He said Gobind's failure to provide evidence to support the claim, despite being pressured by many, suggested that he was not being upfront with the people.
Zamil said it was inappropriate and uncalled for, especially since Gobind was a member of parliament.
"As Puchong MP, Gobind represents the government to serve the people.
"Being a leader, he should not do anything that could tarnish the government's image," he said at the Kuala Muda district police headquarters here.
Zamil said the report should serve as a reminder to leaders from both sides of the political divide to not deceive the public for their personal or party's interest.
In George Town, non-governmental organisation Persatuan Kebajikan Insan Mulia chairman Aminah Abdullah challenged Gobind to produce the notice that he had allegedly sent to RoS.
In a statement on Jan 13, Gobind had said DAP would commence legal proceedings as a result of RoS' refusal to recognise DAP's new leadership, despite the re-election of its top office-bearers last year.
RoS had asked DAP's central executive committee (CEC) to refrain from making any decision until investigations into its polls were completed.
Gobind had argued that RoS had no legal basis to issue the order.
"This leaves DAP with no choice, but to go to court.
"DAP will seek a judicial pronouncement to this effect," he was reported to have said.
The party held a re-election in September last year after RoS demanded it, following a botched tallying process in its initial party polls in December 2012.
Gobind was quoted in a news portal as saying DAP had set a 14-day grace period for RoS to withdraw its decision to not recognise DAP's CEC that was elected in September or face the next course of action.
He said a lawyer's letter was sent to RoS on Dec 23. RoS denied receiving it.

But why is YB Gobind silent over this valid query? A police report has been lodged.

I don't know if it was the lawyer cum DAP MP's blatant lie. If it was indeed a lie the Bar Council wouldn't be sitting still, would they?

Where are the lawyers?
p/s Pls reserve eloquent silence for politicians

Racists choked by racism?

The silence of Pakatan politicians, over the students forced to eat grass saga in a Chinese school in Sungkai, is deafening.

Even those paranoid Chinese politicians from DAP, who think and talk as though the whole world was against them, are dead silent. No public statements.

Can't be on early CNY holidays. Possibly choked by their very own brand of racism?

BTW, this @chookian17 on Twitter (some say his real name is Steven Lim) has been ranting aimlessly in his attempt to defend the shameful act of a Chinese primary school teacher.

He even suggests Chinese school teachers ignore Malay students. I would say that's more than childish. It's on the verge of stupidity.

However this particular guy appears to show full trust and confidence in the police force… the authority.

Basically he says don't go around yelling and screaming when the police have settled the grass-cow-teacher matter. He laments that some people are trying to turn it into a racial issue.

We shall do just as that ranting born-again Malaysian guy of Chinese origin says. Respect the law. Respect the authority.

I'm certain he would agree that we set it as the benchmark. This must be the standard principle in all issues.
Don't cry foul when the outcome doesn't favor you, your interest or serve your politics and racial political affiliations.

Don't threaten street demonstrations if the sissy fellow is once again found guilty of sodomy and sent to the dogs.
Don't shed crocodile tears and blame the whole world when your politburo is deemed illegal by the authority, following complaints from your own members.

Don't be a hypocrite. We can't have two sets of the law.

Don't turn everything into a racial issue even though the police has cleared the issue.

You agree?

UKRC: Another broken promise

Many among us would still remember the failed struggle to save the late Kampung Buah Pala in Penang.

Kampung Buah Pala or better known as High Chaparral was a traditional Indian village in Penang that was slaughtered by politicians, from both sides of the divide until the more than 100-year old village was flattened. Finally it was the DAP-led state government that shooed both human and cattle away despite those rosy promises by none other than Pakatan Rakyat supremo Anwar Ibrahim himself.

So, based on such unscrupulous, untrustworthy, sly politicians' actions in the past, the latest battle between Ulu Kelang Recreation Club and the Pakatan ruined Selangor state government is of no surprise. It has become all too convenient for some shameless politicians/elected representatives to NOT keep their promises. They also see it fit to tell lies.

But the very upset members of UKRC and their strong supporters from beyond Ulu Kelang are not going to throw in the towel and allow such shameless politicians to trample over them or their field.

UKRC is standing up to hold up their rights and they are standing against the mighty Selangor state government's arm, the Ampang Jaya Municipal Council or MPAJ.

The legal battle begins tomorrow -
UKRC vs MPAJ
Date: Monday 13 Jan 2014
Time: 830 am
Place: Court No 6 High Court Jalan Duta
Be there if you have the time, plus the guts. Save UKRC field!

Let's teach dirty politicians a lesson!

Yes we are strong BN supporters, but ...

Yes we are strong, loyal supporters of the Government, the 14-party Barisan Nasional coalition government.

We support the BN that represents each and every ethnic group in our diverse multiracial/multi-religious society.

Our parents and grandparents were staunch supporters and members of the Perikatan/BN. We continue to support the BN, although some of us are not members of any political party, because the time-tested BN has been serving our people relatively well… at least until recently.

In the last decade or so, the BN that we are/were familiar with has been turning to be very unfamiliar. The ‘government’ that we knew and supported is fast becoming very alien to us.

Frankly an increasing number of BN loyalists are disenchanted with the coalition and the number is growing by the day. This is a fact.

It’s no more about winning over those who dumped the BN and voted for the Opposition parties in the last General Election. Now it is about how you contain BN members and supporters from drifting away.

The increasingly disenchanted members and supporters may not be joining any of the Opposition parties but they are certainly moving away from the BN.

The BN, or rather the BN leadership today has become so alien and detached from the rakyat. The leadership of today appears to be a populist leadership that is blinded by artificial “reality show” kind of euphoria.

Some from the top may jump down Menara Dato Onn in their boxers if Twitter and Facebook promised live coverage of the dare-devil event.

If they survive the fall, they might ‘Like’ that event on Facebook and boast about it in their blogs while their cyber-warriors flood our Twitter timeline.

Are we, or is the BN cursed with a set of incompetent, desperate but well-connected and well-fed leaders who are slowly killing the goose that has been laying the golden eggs for this country and her people all these years?

It is becoming increasingly untenable to support a Government that appears to be doing everything that we feared the ‘political monster’ would have done had he been crowned the PM in 1998.

Probably the apple-polishing advisors and million dollar consultants wouldn’t warn their client about such a scenario but this is the fact of the matter that is overwhelming the ground.

More often than not the government and its leaders appear to be bending over backwards to please their international rating agencies, the World Bank and the IMF. Doesn’t this ring a bell?

Now we have the top leaders happily announcing to their party members that the international rating agencies are happy with Malaysia because we cut our subsidies drastically (and make our people suffer). Again, doesn’t this ring a bell?

Many of us have been standing against a monster since 1998 because of his alternative sexual preferences and his subservience to the western powers, namely the US and its international tools like the World Bank, IMF and such, rating agencies included.

We feared that the monster, which has since been proven to be bisexual, would grab hold of the leadership and drag us into the dungeons and earn God’s wrath along the way.

We feared the monster that practiced ‘Seks Luar Tabii’ would be the PM. We rightly stopped it. But now we have one too many of such kinds in the corridors of power.

An explosive affidavit surfaced a couple of months ago.  It is a real affidavit and has been filed in a court of law. It is about the same ‘Seks Luar Tabii’ or Unnatural Sex and it involves an individual who is said to be up, close and personal with the leader and his flock of sheep.

Has the leader taken any action to distance himself from this ‘Seks Luar Tabii’ syndicate around him or is he angry that the dirty secrets of his close confidantes are being exposed?

Please make your stand known so we could take our stand. Do you subscribe/support or condone the freedom to practice ‘Seks Luar Tabii’? Just make an official statement and we will take note.

We are indeed in a dilemma because the DAP-led Opposition is certainly worse and shameless than the BN.

Just look at how Lim Guan Eng spins his way out of the ‘new Mercedes Benz’ hypocrisy with a straight face without any sense of shame or guilt. When DAP does it, it must be right; that is their religion and their followers buy it lock, stock and barrel. That is the Opposition’s ability to fool you, while grabbing your votes.

Ok, enough for the day. I will save the abuse, lust, desire, arrogance and excesses for another day.

Where do we go now?

DAP above the law ?

Initially (before, during and immediately after the last GE) it was just Lim Guan Eng's arrogance plus his father Kit Siang's tears and threats against the Registrar of Societies. The father and son called names and ridiculed this particular Govt agency without even an iota of decency or sincerity. It was pure deception.

Kit Siang fooled the Chinese in Malaysia to an unprecedented level after his 'crocodile tears' stunt. It must have been so effective that now every Kok, DICK and Hally in DAP are jumping into the bandwagon.

They are even threatening to sue the RoS if the notice (below) is not revoked. Now, what does the notice say… in actual fact?

Why is it that the arrogant DAP leaders have made it a point to consistently go against the law and yet threaten the respective government agencies when they are caught with their pants down

Why is it so difficult for the DAP to appoint a mere 20-member CEC without any controversy and/or irregularities as reported and made public by their own members?

DAP leaders in Kedah seem to have opened their eyes wide enough to see the hidden talents of their national leaders.

'Demonise the RoS' campaign has no takers in Kedah coz the state leaders know Guan Eng's hidden talents by now.

Even the long serving Kedah DAP leader would have been slaughtered (politically) had he not brought his case to the RoS for justice.

It appears that generally DAP members and supporters respect and abide by the rule of law, except for a selected few who have no choice but to blame the RoS and every other person who stands against their dynasty in the DAP.

p/s Beats me how some learned lawyers in DAP could push themselves so low to be on the same deck with power crazy lunatics, especially in matters involving rules, regulations and the law of the land.

Roads, potholes and rogues in Sarawak

The caption clearly says that 'Deputy Prime Minister Tun Abdul Razak declaring the 287-mile Kuching/Sibu Road in 1966 as Tun Jugah looks on.'

That 1966-picture is about the Kuching-Sibu Road. The above road was completed a long time ago. Refer to the map below for a rough understanding of these locations in Sarawak.

Also take note how some hate-mongers have been making a fool of the people.(click on the above pic). They claim the road was never constructed and intentionally confuse and anger the people by saying that the government has cheated them.

We know who the hate mongers are but I'm surprised that so many among us believe in such blind, black propaganda. Even an illiterate seem wiser than many learned Malaysians. When an illiterate takes an express bus from Kuching to Sibu, he/she knows that the road has been constructed a long time ago.

Why allow blind hatred based on concocted lies fool you?
See how such bullshit becomes apple-pie and is widely consumed by the smart ones HERE

See how Malaysiakini does it HERE

Stop being an idiot. Tolong lah! We got better things to do.

Why don't we start looking for the 40,000 Bangladeshis who voted against Pakatan in the last election? ;-)

p/s Remember… the road must be there for potholes to exist.

Seeds of hatred... for politics?

Its at work again. This will most probably continue till the next Sarawak state elections. In the past it was solely the contentious NCR land and personal attacks against the state leadership, in particular against BN strongman Taib Mahmud.

Environmentalist will  the scene when they need of funds and have to create a new 'protect the rainforest or dress-up the Penan' circus' for their sympathizers in the UK or Switzerland. During winter they will be on holiday in Sarawak. Pretending as environmentalists, fooling the locals.

Politics of hatred was on the surface till the 'Allah' issue surfaced. Now it is being piled deeper into the minds of our people, particularly the young.

It's confirmed that the DAP is drooling to use the contentious 'Allah' issue to penetrate the rural folks. (They did that and won the Sibu by-election). If you could shake up the rural folks via scare mongering and hatred then the BN would be in trouble. Its about planting the seeds of hatred deeper into the society. Faith is indeed very deep.

And now the Chong Dynasty (DAP warlords in Sarawak) seems to be pushing the limits, intentionally opening another front. I hope the police and the Attorney General's eyes and ears are on this motion to discuss the Malaysia Agreement at the Sarawak State Assembly.

The motion may seem harmless but what the intention is suspect? Prevention is better than cure.

Don't allow ambitious warlords/politicians/lawyers/liars and/or traitors within to have the freedom to spread hatred based on lies and false perception.

The authorities took an easy approach before the general elections because some advisors wanted to try liberal politics. It is of not much use to unveil the Opposition's lies now when the damage has been done ( unless we learn from it). I'm sure many who supported Kit Siang after he cried would see idiots when they look into the mirror now.

The Opposition we know are not good at telling lies. They often get caught with their pants down (40,000 Bangladeshi voters is another example). What beats me is their ability to fool so many people with such foolish stories?

Look at those details of their bullshits. Army camps, armed forces carriers, C-130s, chartered jumbo jets and many more. Many dare not look into the mirror now but the damage has been done… and we Malaysians forget easily. Who remembers those stories about HIV injection and Arsenic poisoning?

Jangan mudah lupa! The devil is at work again. Sarawak looks ripe for picking.

A Malaysian-born international banker with in-depth knowledge about us, in and out, expressed his views recently. I quote the big man in a small frame here "BN will lose in the next General Election if it is business as usual. It doesn't look good".

Some years ago the same man predicted a certain change that eventually came into being, exactly how he had said it would. I'll take the man in batik very seriously. Start NOW to prevent hatred from destroying our society and by extension this country.

If we allow hatred to rule Sarawak, we will lose even before the next general elections.

It's subtle.

p/s The man said we must also take a serious look at the way we do things in the government and the BN.… to prevent hatred.

Transparency in transformasi

Why?
Datuk Seri Najib Razak has brought about changes or introduced new ways of doing things both in Umno and the Government. He calls it transformation or 'transformasi'.

The good and bad of Najib Razak's 'transformasi' could be debated but we can't deny that there has been many positive outcomes. Fresh ideas has brought about better things. KR1M is good. BR1M is good although we have to be cautious of it in the long run. Empowering the MACC is good. Pemandu and NKRA is relatively funny. Abolishing the Internal Security Act is certainly not good and not very clever either.

In Umno, the decision to transform the party to be more democratic is damn good. The idea of allowing more than a 100,000 party members to choose their top leaders is exemplary. It is the first in this country. Najib Razak's transformasi has rejuvenated Umno but implementation needs some major tweaking.

The president and all his men may want to take note.

When 2,000 odd delegates chose their leaders during previous Umno elections, their votes were secret. Under the new transformed Umno election process, its more transparent.

Those who contested for the VP, Youth, Wanita and Puteri wing posts will know exactly how many and which of the 191 divisions voted for them. It is no longer  a secret.

But it seems that the level of transparency brought about by the president's transformasi stops there.... or someone has forced it to stop there. The complete breakdown of votes received by contestants in the recent Umno elections is a secret, or so it seems. Why is it a secret?

Some are unhappy with this lack of transparency in Najib's transformasi.

Others claim its the case of 'rumah sudah siap pahat masih berbunyi'. Is this unhappiness about the lack of transparency in Najib's transformasi unfounded? Candidates who contested in the party poll are still being denied the official detailed results from the 191 divisions?

I hope Umno election committee chairman Tan Sri Tajol Rosli Ghazali will re-classify the details of the party poll results. If someone had classified it as TOP SECRET, you better de-classify before it hits the fan.

If it is not a secret, make it public. You don't need the president's decree to do that. Its part and puzzle of transformasi. If it is the 'little Napoleons' who stand as the stumbling block, tell them not to give Najib's transformasi a bad name.

The party HQ could take up space in Utusan/Mingguan and make the poll results public. I'm sure Najib Razak will agree. Friends in Utusan will also be happy... most certainly.

p/s Remember the DAP's CEC election fraud? Don't give room for something similar to happen in Umno.

More DAP than DAP?

Not the Chinaman, its the chauvinist politicians

This opinion piece appeared a month ago at mysinchew.com. It may be bitter for some but it's a good read.

Bubbling of Chinese politics in Malaysia
By LIM SUE GOAN
Translated by DOMINIC LOH
Sin Chew Daily
Umno and MCA are representatives of Malay and Chinese politics in this country. While Umno has its share of problems, the Malay race is one that still knows how to care and help their own people. Not our Chinese leaders.
Chinese Malaysians are a clever lot, but they are only good if they go solo. When a group of Chinese people come together, factionalization and infightings are a norm.
The biggest difference between Umno and MCA is that Umno leaders know how to make some changes for the sake of the party, for example the direct party elections that allow the party to move in tandem of the times. By contrast, MCA continues to adhere stubbornly to the easily manipulated central delegate voting system it has practiced for decades because its leaders are more concerned about their own interests and powers than anything else.
The upcoming MCA elections will be one classical example of power play, especially its president Chua Soi Lek, the power play supremo who has the party well in his grips.
After the humiliating defeat in GE13, Chua should by right bear the full responsibility being the party president, but whether he would go or stay is now up to him himself to decide. He is having everything in his hands, from his control of central delegates in divisional polls to an EGM to censure his deputy Liow Tiong Lai on October 20.
Before he architectured the Oct 20 EGM, I believe Chua already had in mind of dragging Liow along with him if he were to bow out. So he designed a motion to censure Liow, making him morally unfit to run for presidency. At the same time, the president named 18 young leaders who could take over, including Wee Ka Siong, with the objective of disintegrating the Liow-Wee alliance.
If he successfully incites the supporters of Liow and Wee, even if the duo were to form a pair to run for the party's top two posts in December, Chua's men are expected to reap the benefit and take the helm.
As a matter of fact, the infightings within MCA over the years have been an epitome of the power struggle within the party, the Ong Tee Keat and Chua Soi Lek rift being a classical instance.
On August 27, 2009, under the auspices of Ong Tee Keat, Chua Soi Lek was sacked by the party's presidential council citing the immoral sex CD issue. Chua fought back and successfully passed a resolution to call for Ong's resignation on October 10 the same year. Chua's party membership and committee member status were reinstated but not his deputy presidency.
October 22, Ong, Chua and Liow announced they had achieved a "grand unity solution." In the March 28, 2010 party elections, Chua defeated Ong Tee Keat and Ong Ka Ting in a three-cornered fight, attesting to the fact that Chua was indeed the supremo in power play.
From here we can see that MCA leaders care nothing about principles. They are only concerned about their own benefits. They could set aside a resolution achieved at the October 10 EGM, and a foe could turn a close ally in a split second.
As such, we shouldn't be overly worried about the latest infightings because another peace solution could be well on the way any minute. And if the farce has gone way too far off, Umno leaders can always put their hands in it and bring the whole thing to a rest before long.
Malaysians have lost their faith in MCA for another reason: people have previously speculated that MCA would very soon make its way back to the Cabinet, and indeed one of the motions at the October 20 EGM will be to nullify the party's earlier decision of not joining the Cabinet.
What are the reasons for joining the Cabinet? If they still care about their individual interests more, in the end they will not be able to fight for a more equitable system, in which case it wouldn't matter any more whether MCA gets into the Cabinet or not as it will not help the Chinese community.
While MCA leaders enjoy creating the farce, many people have actually put it off their minds. If the party fails to renew itself, its days are numbered.
Seeing what is happening to MCA, Chinese politics in Malaysia is indeed a sad thing. Chinese politicians have the wits to only manipulate the powers in their hands, not to struggle for the well-being of the entire community.
If is a sad reality that Chinese Malaysians are being sidelined after GE13, but unfortunately Chinese parties remain untrustworthy as ever while Chinese associations are divided. There will be no way out for the Chinese community in Malaysia unless our leaders put an immediate stop to all the nonsense and work together to hammer things out and get the problems solved. - mysinchew.com
I have a few questions.

Does 'Chinese parties, Chinese politicians and our leaders' - as highlighted in the article above - apply to DAP as well?

This circus of MCA holding AGMs and EGMs to decide which Govt position/appointments they want and which they don't.... is it not a big joke?

You think the Prime Minister, the Mentris Besar and the Chief Ministers are running sundry shops for you to prepare a shopping list of your wants?

Is Soi Lek not the biggest burden for MCA today? How do you expect the party to renew itself when Soi Lek thinks he should win the Oscar on MCA's ticket?

MCA must certainly renew itself but the biggest fear is that those desperate politicians with loads of personal baggage may push MCA to be more DAP than DAP to cover their weaknesses.

That may not be the kind of renewal the Chinese community is looking forward to.

Actually the Chinese community is beginning to show signs of lethargy to DAP's politics of hatred. People are tired of DAP's blame game. Ordinary folks have had enough of we against them kind of divisive politics. Politics of race and region is another issue which the ordinary Chinese are tired of. Even the Chinese fear those born again Christians among them.

DAP's in-fighting is just waiting to implode into something bigger. Kit Siang & son cannot possibly continue to blame Umno and BN as their own members have grown tired of the dictatorship in DAP.

If MCA members are smart enough, they could sail this wind of change. MCA must rejuvenate, renew and re-invent the party. MCA must stand up and be the voice of reason for Malaysians.

Most importantly, MCA must remain moderate and not try to be more chauvinist and divisive than those dictators and their ilk in the DAP.

To renew or rejuvenate, there must be change. Is Soi Lek seeking re-election as MCA president?
